Harvesting firewood

Content

Firewood is a piece of wood intended to be burned in a stove, fireplace, firebox or campfire to produce heat and light. One unit of firewood is called a log, drovina. A forest suitable for firewood (as opposed to a business forest suitable for industrial use) is called "drovianny" (nowadays the term "energy forest" is also used).

In accordance with GOST 3243-88, firewood quality is standardised by wood species, nominal length and accounting gradation, by the area of heartwood rot (as a percentage of the face area), by the number of firewood in a batch with rot from 30 to 65% of the face area, and by the height of the remaining knots.
